Context

The area to be cleaned is located in the southwest corner of a courtyard inside the building of the Saint Joseph Institute. It is located close to a high-voltage cabin located in the southwest corner of the courtyard. It is surrounded by builvdings of several floors. An average concentration of 1000mg / kg for a maximum of 2000mg / kg of mineral oils contamination was detected in the soil, for a total volume of 65m3. It represents a polluting load of 105.6 kg. This pollution is linked to the presence of the supply line of the underground diesel tank.

Remediation consists in heating the soil without directly injecting gas into the soil in order to volatilize the hydrocarbons and treat the gases produced by combustion. The mobilization time of the treatment plant in the area to be cleaned-up is estimated at 10 weeks.

The in situ treatment unit is compact and easily mobilizable on site. The whole installation was placed in suitable and insulated containers. The exhaust gases were discharged at the top of one of the buildings surrounding the inner courtyard and did meet the defined discharge standards. They were monitored using a gas analyzer (NOx, CO, CO2, O2, SO2 and HCT) at predefined regular time intervals and a Pitot tube to measure the flow rate.

The objective of HCT remediation was <300mg / kg ms.
There were no other pollutants present in the area.
