Aviles – Spain

Context

The clean-up site was formerly used by Aceralia (Steel plant) in Avilès and the soil to treat came from the various locations within the steel factory that generated contaminated soil. The clean-up was funded by the Infoinvest (Spanish Governmental agency in charge of industrial redevelopment of contaminated sites). The soil was already excavated by the client. Deep Green has contracted the sieving and the thermal desorption part of the contract for the PCB and PAH contaminated soil.

Equipment

The project started with a DRAGON 35 unit. Stack tests were successfully performed on the unit. The unit was equipped with continuous emissions monitoring.

Treatment Target

The soil to treat had PCB concentrations varying from 35ppm up to 380 ppm. PAH content was moderate at an average of 2,450 ppm. Clean-up levels were set at 3 ppm total PCB and 20 ppm Total PAH. All clean-up standards for clean soil were met.

external

This project was designed and executed by the current Haemers Technologies team, when they worked within the legal entity L&C SA (formerly Deep Green SA), which belongs to the Haemers Technologies group.
