In Gela, the conversion process at the ENI Gela plant’s biorefinery has officially begun. Next summer, biofuel production will be launched. HAEMERS Technologies is of course present in the SIMAM/ICARO ECOLOGY/HAEMERS Technologies’ team for soil thermal desorption. Although we previously named our technology GTR, which stands for Gas Thermal Remediation, our Smart burners now also run on diesel as source of energy. The development was done based on customers’ requests, especially for remediation projects on remote locations where natural gas or propane supply will be difficult or even impossible. ENI Italy has awarded the remediation of the heavily contaminated soil of the former refinery in Gela, Sicily, to a consortium of SIMAM, ICARO Ecology and HAEMERS Technologies.
