Escautpont – France
Context
The association of the three societies Deep Green, Sita remediation and Cardem won this Charbonnages de France’s project to treat 52 000 tons of polluted soils on the site of an old cokework at Escautpont, just near Valenciennes. Deep Green’s duty was the on-site thermal desorption treatment of selected PAH contaminated soils. The soils were rather heterogeneous with peak PAH concentrations of 75 000 mg/kg and peak TPH concentrations of 130 000 mg/kg.
Equipment
The project was realized with the mobile DRAGON 35 unit, in a hot plant set-up. Stack tests were regularly performed and were supervised by the DRIRE and an external independent consultant. The unit is equipped with Continuous Emissions Monitoring systems. The regulations of the decree, the «Arrêté Préfectoral», were met.
Treatment Target
The levels of decontamination to be reached were fixed at 2000 ppm for the total of the PAH so that the soil could directly be re-used on the site. All cleaned soils are under the lean-up target after treatment. All the standards of cleansing were also respected.
This project was designed and executed by the current Haemers Technologies team, when they worked within the legal entity L&C SA (formerly Deep Green SA), which belongs to the Haemers Technologies group.
