The Japanese knotweed is an invasive plant species causing serious problems worldwide. Different control methods exist (including herbicides, excavation, and burial), but they come with risks and limitations. At Haemers Technologies, we've developed an innovative thermal treatment method that targets the knotweed's rhizomes. Working with KU Leuven, Thermal Clean Shift, and Plantengezondheidsdienst, we heat the soil to 50-60°C for a few days, effectively disabling the rhizomes and preventing regrowth.
