The project for Perenco, the thermal ex-situ treatment of the heavily oil-contaminated soil on their previous production site in Kinkazi, Congo, has now been successfully completed. The approach has been to maximize the recovery of the oil, i.a. by using a condensation system, transferring the off-gas into liquid oil again. Up to 70 % of the oil was recycled. ENI Italy has awarded the remediation of the heavily contaminated soil of the former refinery in Gela, Sicily, to a consortium of SIMAM, ICARO Ecology and HAEMERS Technologies. SIMAM is a leading company in Italy for environmental services, ICARO Ecology is a local company in construction and environmental services.
